Artistry is pleased to announce Urban Extracts, an exhibition in the Inez Greenberg Gallery featuring the work of painters Lindsey Ries and Mike Welton. Urban Extracts runs April 8– May 13, 2016

About the Exhibit: Architecture plays a starring role in the paintings of both Lindsey Ries and Mike Welton. Ries’ depiction of familiar, often urban, structures in vast rural landscapes creates a curious contradiction and plays on our notions of space, permanence, and memory. Her non-representational color choices and the painterly brush and brayer marks add to the energy each painting conveys. Conversely, Welton delivers his signature hyper-realistic portraits of architectural detail, where perspective and intense color palettes create a striking duality of realism and abstraction. Urban Extracts allows the viewer to explore the dialogue between these two differing interpretations of architecture, design, and landscape.
