Call for Art: WARM’s “Fall Transformation… Looking Inward” Exhibit

Saturday, August 22nd, 2015

Date:
October 1st – November 30th, 2015

Location:
Bethesda Hospital’s Gallery Cafe
559 N. Capital Blvd.
St. Paul, MN

WARM members are invited to exhibit at the Gallery Cafe at Saint Paul’s Bethesda Hospital – a long-term acute care hospital that offers integrated programs for patients whose illnesses or injuries have long-term effects. We are looking for works that portray the theme of “Fall Transformation… Looking Inward“.

Special Opportunity! Extend this invitation to a non-member friend!

Each WARM artist in the Fall Transformation show may invite one non-member friend to show with them! Just forward this email to a friend(s); invite them to show with you; and to mention your name when they contact Allie Hafez (below).

The Gallery Cafe is a high traffic space where your art will be appreciated by hospital workers, visitors and patients. Bethesda also has an art purchase program, and they often purchase pieces from shows to add to their art library. This library gives patients the opportunity to choose art for the rooms as part of their healing journey at the hospital.

For this reason, work needs to be appropriate for a healing, therapeutic setting; please no work depicting violence or other difficult to view subject matter.

Each artist can submit up to two pieces in their original submission. Following the first round of submissions, you may be asked to bring additional pieces as space allows. Wall pieces must be four feet or less in height, and ready to hang from a hanging system. Three dimensional work can be displayed in covered pedestals ranging in size from 12″x12″x12″ to 30″x30″x24″.

Email your submission to Allie Hafez at . Let her know:

  • The size of the pieces you plan to exhibit
  • Images of work are appreciated but not required. (Images sent may be used in publicity).

There is no entry fee for this show. The deadline to respond is September 16th. The call will close when 20 (twenty) 2D artists /8 (eight) 3D artists are confirmed.

Drop-off Day will be September 29th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Bethesda. If you can’t make it at this time you may bring art to Layl McDill’s studio at 34 Thirteenth Ave. NE, Suite 109. (Contact Layl at to set up a drop-off time).

If you are sending work with another artist (or delivering to Layl), be sure they have the following details about your work:

  • title(s)
  • medium
  • price of work (or “not for sale”)

We look forward to seeing your work, and new work from your friends!

Thank You!

Call for Entry: Made Here Fall/Winter 2015 Showcase Exhibition

Tuesday, August 11th, 2015

Made Here, a project of Hennepin Theatre Trust, is accepting artists’ submissions for its upcoming fall/winter 2015 Showcase exhibition!

The Made Here Showcases temporarily fill empty storefronts and commercial spaces with art by local artists, turning the downtown Minneapolis cultural district into a walkable urban art gallery.

We invite you to send this open call to your networks; our goal is to give this application opportunity to as many artists as possible! In the interest of accessibility and inclusivity, we do not require artist statements, resumes or exhibition histories to apply. Our panel curates each open call blind, meaning that panelists review the art without knowledge of artist names in an effort to produce unbiased outcomes.

The theme for the fall/winter 2015 Showcases is Reflection. Artists may submit their proposals from now until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, September 14, 2015. For this round, we invite artists and artist groups to submit proposals for window Showcase displays that interpret the word, “Reflection.” Artist interpretations of what the Reflection theme means to them are open to their creativity.

Made Here features artists who have never exhibited work as well as internationally renowned professionals.

Made Here also works hard to feature artists representing diverse communities. On average, 40 percent of our artists are from communities of color. We also aim for balanced gender representation and make it a priority to include seniors, children, artists with disabilities, GLBT artists and artists from Greater Minnesota.

NEMAA Fall Fine Arts Show: New Submission Process!

NEMAA’s 2015 Fall Fine Arts Show

NEMAA_fall-fine-arts-show

NEW Submission Information and Guidelines

NEMAA is proud to present the 2015 Fall Fine Arts Show, a diverse showcase of exceptional artwork from NEMAA members. This exhibit will take place on the 3rd floor gallery of the Solar Arts Building from September 18 – 27, 2015 (gallery hours are Thursday – Sunday). Download the full artwork submission information and guidelines packet.

Exhibited artwork will be for sale, and NEMAA will collect a 25% commission on sold artwork. Four overall awards will be selected by guest judges, and will be given out to artists during the opening reception, along with prizes. One People’s Choice award will be announced at the end of the show. Put forth your best work and help us showcase NEMAA artists’ immense talent to guests including art buyers, designers, architects, and more!

IMPORTANT: PLEASE NOTE THE NEW SUBMISSION PROCESS.

Over the years, Fall Fine Arts Show has become an anticipated event in which more and more of our artist members wish to participate. Our former “first-come-first-served” approach to accepting artwork is no longer the best process for this exhibit, as our membership has grown to over 600 artists. The mission of the Fall Fine Arts Show is to be an inclusive exhibit for NEMAA artists. It is important that this exhibit continue to offer professional, artistic, promotional and sale opportunities for both emerging and established artists, but we also need to consider our limited capacity – in terms of staff/people power, budget, display space, and so forth. Therefore, after much thought and discussion, we have decided to hold a lottery. NEMAA artists will be able to register online for a designated period of time. NEMAA will then randomly and blindly select a certain number of artists for 2D (wall hanging) and 3D categories, and will then notify artists. Our goal is to be fair and respectful to our members, and continue to offer all artists a potential opportunity to display their artwork in this exhibit.

Please carefully read the following instructions to make sure your artwork is entered into the lottery and eligible for the show. Please note: exceptions cannot be made.
