Denise Minkler Marych says of her unconventional substrates: “I love the challenge of the unexpected results I can achieve by brushing paint on the smooth cooper surface, experimenting with color and transparency, and discovering ways to let the glow of the metal become a part of my artwork.”

Denise says: “I choose copper as a base for my paintings because it accentuates the luminous quality of nature that inspires me. In recognizing the transitory cycles of both self and the earth, my paintings are as much inner landscapes as they are outward depictions of color, form, shape and light.”

As she reaches the end of her mentorship cycle with mentor Marcie Soderman, she reflects on her experience: “Through the support and guidance of my mentor I have learned how to believe in my artistic voice. I have gained confidence and been more productive as a result. This is one of the most valuable gifts I have received through the mentorship program.”
