Elizabeth Blair: MCAD exhibition opening & artist panel

Screen Shot 2015-10-06 at 1.40.56 PM

Dear Family, Friends, Neighbors, Colleagues and Fellow Artists,
For those of you who may not have heard my news, I was awarded a 2015 Minnesota State Arts Board Individual Artist Initiative Grant in Visual Arts, Photography for my bog tapestry series of photographs. I’ve completed two of my four official state arts board public events, and am delighted to announce my third, an upcoming group show at the Concourse Gallery at MCAD.
I could not be more pleased with this wonderful opportunity to show with a public artist whose work I greatly respect, Christine Baeumler, and with five other artists affiliated with MCAD, either as graduates of the MFA program there or as professors or instructors at MCAD. I’ve been privileged to take classes at MCAD and to be featured in a documentary about bogs directed by Baeumler, who as a McKnight fellow, installed a bog on the MCAD roof. The upcoming show is a dream venue for my bog abstracts and landscapes of bogs. I could not be more thrilled and honored to be included in this show!
The theme of the show is sustainability in art and Christine’s roof is sustainable! It’s the only green tamarack roof in the world and has already produced baby tamaracks – reason alone to come to the show.  At this exhibition you’ll have the opportunity to see the work of seven artists and designers who do sustainable art, watch Baeumler’s film, Bogs, A Love Story, and gaze at MCAD’s beautiful green roof.
Attached is an E-card with details about the exhibition, Look Here: Making Visible the Invisible in Sustainable Art and Design, which opens on Friday, Oct. 16. Note that there will also be an artists panel on Oct. 26.  If you live in the Twin Cities or are planning to be in the metro in October, I would love to see you at the show!
