Friends of the Arts is partnering with the City of St. Louis Park to bring creativity and vibrancy to our communities through artist-designed utility boxes. Three submissions will be chosen as pre-approved images from which neighborhood groups and community organizations may choose when applying for a box-wrap in their community.
Artists are invited to submit up to three images, and will be paid a stipend of $175 for each image selected by the review panel. Images should be submitted as PNG, JPEG, or PDF files via email to email@example.com with subject line “Artist-Designed Utility Box Submission.”
Submissions may be photographs, photographs of visual art, digital visual art, or other art forms. Selections will be made based on artistic excellence and final appearance (how it will look on a large scale, wrapped around a utility box). Preference will be given to St. Louis Park residents, but all are welcome to apply. You are encouraged to submit a brief description along with each image of what it is and/or why that image would bring creativity and vibrancy to St. Louis Park.
Selected images may eventually be cropped or formatted to fit specific box requirements, but submissions should be made with dimensions found in this document. As per city zoning code requirements, no letters, logos, or numbers may be used in the design. Artwork must not be used to promote or oppose political views. Artwork must not be offensive or condescending towards others.
