Women's Art Registry of Minnesota
2006 Mentor Protegee Show

WARM commits itself to building a strong presence and a prosperous future with and for women artists.

WARM's mission is to build networks and programming that create mentoring, educational, exhibition and professional development opportunities that reflect the diverse voices, visions and values of Minnesota women visual artists.

Welcome to WARM

The Women's Art Registry of Minnesota is located in the Minneapolis/St.Paul area in Minnesota. We are a women's art organization that serves midwest women artists through a variety of programming and publications. These include:

  • A Mentor Program that pairs emerging and professional women artists for two years and then exhibits the participants of the program at the end of the two year cycle.
  • Individual and group exhibition opportunities.
  • Networking opportunities through WARM Coffees, Fresh Art and Art Partners.
  • The WARM Online Registry which allows members to place and image and statement of their work along with a link to their web site.
  • A biweekly listserv, e-WARM-ups, lets members know about WARM happenings, local and national calls for art, professional development opportunities and local exhibitions.
  • A quarterly newsletter, WARM Re:Views, interviews women artists, introduces emerging artists and reviews ongoing opportunities for artists in the midwest region.

As spring begins to reintroduce her light to us, people emerge from their northern domains- some bearing cameras with which to record the event.  While many photographers use their camera to document what they find, others are interested in expressing their intuitive reactions to- and interactions with- their subjects.  Others, still, step into the process itself, in order to document the documenting; they share with the viewer the story behind the artistic process of photography.  Julia Babb and Natalie Marie Domka are two such photographers working in the latter, more playful veins.

Fresh Art

For 2008, WARM's Fresh Art! series will be co-coordinated by Kit Eastman and Brenna Busse. Fresh Art! is moving to a new location - the St. Anthony Park Public Library auditorium, 2245 Como Avenue in St. Paul, MN 55108. See the library website for maps and directions. http://www.stpaul.lib.mn.us/locations/stanthony.html.

Fresh Art! will continue to be held on the 4th Thursday of the month from 7-9 pm, with a few exceptions due to holidays or library closing.

Fresh Art! is a monthly meeting presented by WARM for members (non-members are also welcome). Each meeting presents an art topic, followed by attendees sharing new work they have created. Some meetings are devoted to a hands-on art activity. In 2008, we have some exciting topics on the list! Mimi Holmes will complete her slide lectures on art by women.

March Fresh Art
When: Thursay April 24th from 6:45-8:45 p.m. (Note we've moved the meeting a little earlier because we must be out of the auditorium by 8:45.)
Where: St. Anthony Park Public Library auditorium, 2245 Como
Avenue. St. Paul, MN 55108
What: Hands on! Make and trade! Come and create several small works of art- 3 1/2 X 2 1/2 inches-and become part of the ATC movement! Started in 1996 by Zurich artist M. Vanci Stirnemann, the only thing constant is size-the media is up to you!
We will have a variety of card stock cut to size and some basic supplies, such as: stamps and ink, collage books, glue, paper cutter. Please bring your favorite media to work with. The goal is to make as many pieces as people present, so we create and collect-all in one evening!!! RSVPIf you plan to attend, please email Kit Eastman at freshart@thewarm.org by Friday, Feb. 22nd.

WARM Coffee

Join WARM Members for monthly visits to area art shows. We view the show and then head to a nearby coffee shop to discuss our reactions to the exhibit. For information about WARM Coffee contact warmcoffee@thewarm.org

There is no WARM Coffee planned for this month
